—————————————Artist's Bio:——————————

Jacob Whitmore has had a very fortunate career as an artist. With nine one-person shows and the production of many specific pieces for television, film and private collectors. Not formally trained this 35-year-old artist has cultivated his own style by filtering thru his heart the many poets, musicians, filmmakers and artists that have inspired him.

Jacob’s journey began at age nine when he broke into an abandon classroom in his elementary school. While rummaging through a few items in the corner of the room he found a box of drawing supplies (pens, paper, pencils and books). These treasures turned out to be a kit of spiritual tools unlike any other he would ever put his hands on again. The next few years especially would be filled with intense emotional pain and little did he know that in picking up these tools instantly his sorrow would become pliable.

The rich mixture of cultures in Jacob’s family has been a major source of inspiration in his work. On his mother Salesha’s side the deep mystical beauty of Trinidad in the Caribbean and on his father James’ side a magnified and intense scrutiny of western culture through politics, principles and art has supplied a never-ending source for creative reflection.

The last four years has seen the birth of “The Whitmore Eclectic” a new theatre group brought to life by Jacob’s sister Aliah Whitmore. This group has begun the process of setting up a permanent residence in the L.A. area. Jacob and Aliah have had a creative partnership since they were children and now with Jacob as the companies production designer the two of them along side the incredible talents of everyone in involved in the W.E. have been given the opportunity to bring to the L.A. theatre scene a very unique and powerful example of living art. The two productions that have been done so far have received great reviews from theatre magazines and local news stations.

Life has been a journey of constant awakening for Jacob and the gift of expression the only way at certain times for him to find his footing and move forward.
